Commonly our passengers
observe Bald Eagles in their normal day to day routine of nesting,
raising their young, and feeding on all forms of fish running in
the Twenty Mile River Corridor. Almost as common is the viewing
of the Alaskan Mountain Goat. Much of our trip is very close to
the altitude of the tree line above which lies prime Goat habitat.
The area around the shores of Carmen Lake frequently is inhabited
by a large population of Black Bears and we pass through prime Moose
country on the lower river en-route to the upper reaches of the
river corridor. Occasionally we even spot Grizzly Bears and Wolves.
The Twenty Mile and her tributaries are home to a very healthy Beaver
population who are always entertaining with their industriousness
and antics. Keep your cameras safe and dry by all means… but
keep them handy at all times for when these photographic opportunities
present themselves as well! You can count on our Captains to idle
out and hold in the current as they share in your viewing pleasure.
(They actually consider this one of the company offered benefits!)
